A class for young artists with ambition! Our new professional art instructor teaches how to fully express your ideas and sharpen your skills in drawing and painting. Explore portraiture, creative approaches to still life and more in this focused but chill weekly class.

Develop your artistic expression. Prepare for our annual youth show in Spring. Learn in a small group of max. 10 students. Some materials provided, a list of supplies will be sent upon registration.

Drawing and Painting students will learn the following skills and techniques:

• Expand your personal creative process
• Importance of keeping a sketchbook
• Make use of smartphones and technology for creative development
• Project planning
• Composition development
• Basic colour mixing and theory
• Explore mark-making and process painting
• Discover various forms of mixed media

About the instructor

Mitchell Villa is a professional artist who recently moved to the Cowichan Valley from Victoria.

He has been teaching acrylic and oil painting at Cedar Hill Recreation Arts Centre and the Art Gallery of Victoria.
