Remembrance Day offers us the opportunity to pause, then to reflect. For many centuries during the history of art, painters, sculptors and architects were commissioned to celebrate victories in war. More recently, many artists have been concerned with denouncing war and embracing peace. Our discussion-based presentation will take a close look at some famous paintings on the subject of war. At our second session, we will examine the evolution of war memorials from Ancient Rome to Vimy to Vietnam. Follow host Rob MacLean as he leads a discussion on the art history of war and looks at contemporary ways to commemorate conflict. Free. Join Zoom Meeting https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84444887735
