Welcome to a Summer of Art and Creative Fun
Summer Art Camps at CVAC are small group (max 12) camps with 2 or 3 camp staff supporting the creative processes with the children and youth. This year we have some new specialty offers as you will see below.
All programs include snack and lunch breaks (bring your own food and drink) and time outside. Days start at 9 am and end at 3 pm . Teen events have different timing as posted.

Registration
All registration is handled through the CVRD. Go to reccowichan.ca or call the Ticket Center 250.748.7529 to register for camps. We list the CODE number below each camp for you to quickly find the camp in their system. Registration opens April 7.
Camps for kids from 6-9
July 2-4: Start with Art into Summer
A short 3-day camp to experience art and fun. Get a taste of different ways to create with paper, scissors, colour and glue. We will have lots of materials available for all the bright ideas that are generated by the children and our supportive camp leaders. Daily outdoor lunch & playtime rounds out the camp days. Suitable to combine with the Art Explorer camp the following week.

July 7 – 9 : Art Explorers
Ages 6 – 9
This will be a week of playful learning and art projects, both 2 and 3 dimensional. We will explore collage, painting, printing and shaping using materials that inspire the imagination. Children will work individually and on group projects. Daily outdoor lunch and playtime rounds out the camp days. Great combination with “start into Art ” above.

July 21 -25 : Artistic Mix & Match Adventures
Ages 6 – 9
Experiment with a variety of materials and both 2 and 3-dimensional projects in this exciting camp. Beginning with warm up exercises, we move to personal and group projects. From developing ideas to creating awesome pieces of art, we will support young creatives in their pursuits. Daily outdoor lunch and playtime rounds out the camp days.

Aug 5 – 8: Fairies and Friends Art Camp
Ages 6 – 9
Let’s explore the magical world of Fairies through stories and art. Using lots of fun materials, we will create images, figures and a diorama to take home. This camp includes daily outdoor time and a family art exhibition on the last day of camp.

Camps for Kids 8-12 or 9-13
July 7 – 11: With Heart and Hands: Textile Creations for Kids
Ages 8 – 12
Explore stitching techniques, design patterns, and colours as we craft unique textile projects from start to finish. With step-by-step guidance by experienced instructors, practice creative problem-solving, gain new skills, build confidence, and share the fun with new friends. There will be daily outdoor time and a family art exhibition on the last day.

July 14-18 : 3D Art Camp: Sculpt, Build, Create!
Ages 9 – 13
This is the camp for tactile creatives! Using multiple materials, campers will sculpt and build imaginative sculptures and structural wonders. Working in air dry clay, young artists literally mold and shape their ideas. Our eco-friendly approach uses recycled materials. We also have a guest artist presenter lined up for even more learning fun. The week includes daily outdoor time and a family art exhibition on the last day of camp.

Jul 28 -Aug 1: Sketch & Draw: Skills for Visual Storytelling
Ages 8 – 12
Embark on a focused artistic journey and dive into the exciting world of drawing and sketching. Each day, campers will explore topics like character creation, dynamic poses, perspective, facial expressions, and the magic of colour. Our small group size ensure personalized attention and fosters an inclusive and supportive environment. Daily lunch breaks at the park allow kids to set their energy free and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Aug 11-14: Dig Into Art
Ages 9 – 13
Explore the world of art with full days of drawing and painting for young artists. Daily warm-ups and collaborative projects foster connections. Campers learn multiple techniques and experiment with a range of art materials. Plus, there’s a guest artist visit to do a special project with campers. Daily lunch breaks at the park allow kids to set their energy free and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Teen Summer Programs
CVAC: Art Lab for Youth
Ages 13 – 15
Enjoy three afternoons of art and journey into artistic expression and self development. Using materials from paint, charcoal, paper, fabric, canvas and found objects, explore what your creative spirit enjoys.

Aug 11-15: Painting With Acrylics – Youth Summer Art Intensive
Ages 16 – 19
Spend five days focused on your art with warm up exercises, sketchbook work and one canvas ready for your project. We will work through planning and composition, choosing your palette and painting technique. This is a perfect course for those who want to step up their art practice.
