This workshop is postponed. Watch for it in February!
October 4 & 5, 10 am -4 pm each day, in the CVAC Art Studio
Discover the meditative and expressive art of Slow Stitching in our immersive 2-day workshop led by Fiber Artist Gloria S. Daly.
Slow Stitching transforms needle and thread into a paintbrush, inviting your creativity to lead. Rooted in age-old traditions, this mindful practice emphasizes the journey over the destination, allowing you to connect deeply with your inner self and the present moment.
To get an impression of what slow stitching art might look like, watch a 3 Minute video in which Gloria explains one of her large works : https://vimeo.com/167763751
Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a complete beginner, you’ll find joy and inspiration in the slow, deliberate process of Slow Stitching.
The following will give you an idea of topics that will be touched on over the course of the workshop.

Day 2: Continuing the journey
Canadian textile artist Gloria S. Daly lives and works in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. She studied with City & Guilds, UK in Design & Embroidery and The Embroidery Guild of America. Her contemporary embroidery works have been
exhibited in group shows across Canada, Australia, France, USA, Japan, UK, and Mexico as well as several solo shows. She is affiliated with SAQA, VISDA, and FAN.
Gloria’s work is labour intensive, complex, and beautiful, notable for the amount of hand stitching. The sense of touch and profound sense of observation shows her passion for her subject matter. Slow Stitch allows for mindful and contemplative works of art.
Slow stitching will take place in the CVAC Studio. Each day we begin at 10:00 am and wrap up at 4:00 pm.
We will offer coffee and tea and some small snacks. Please bring a lunch and other items you may enjoy.
