In this 3-day (Sat-Mon) intermediate to advanced watercolour course, artist Harold Allanson will guide the group through the market area, pointing out possible interesting photo opportunities. Time and effort collecting is an important part of developing a library inventory of photo reference material for future paintings. Harold will offer hints and advice along the way as to what may or may not work. There’ll be time for questions and discussion. The afternoon will be spent composing and laying out our paintings using our newly acquired reference photos. As we work from camera, to instructor’s computer, to watercolour paper, plan for an interesting afternoon. Day 2 starts with a demo followed by everyone starting to paint. We’ll all be painting the same painting as Harold in order to learn the do’s and don’t’s, as we progress together. Day 3 is when the painting comes together. Some people may finish two paintings during the course.
Instructor: Harold Allanson, SFCA, TWSA, holds a life-long interest in drawing and painting, but was unable to fully express his talent until taking early retirement twenty years ago. Since then it’s allowed him the luxury of being able to paint for several hours most days. His realistic watercolours are representative of his life experiences and observations, often depicting working friends, people he’s met, their lives and their jobs. The west Coast of BC where he lives and the ranch lands of the interior where he grew up are all inspiration for his work. https://www.haroldallanson.com/about
