Youth Art Show: Open Call for Artists

The Cowichan Valley Arts Council invites youth aged 13-21 from the Cowichan Valley to participate in this year’s youth art show, Unfiltered: Unleash Your Authenticity, a theme selected by Queen Margaret’s School. This free exhibition celebrates the incredible talents of local youth artists.

Show Dates: March 6 – 28, 2025
Key Dates to Remember:

  • Registration Opens: January 14, 2024
  • Registration Deadline: February 27, 2024
  • Art Drop-off: Tuesday, March 4th, between 1 and 4 pm
  • Art Pick Up: To be determined
  • Opening Event: To be determined

Two-Dimensional Work: Must include a wired backing and be ready to hang. View hanging requirements here.

Participation is free and limited space is available—register early!

Each artist may submit up to 2 pieces.

Size Limit: Maximum 40 x 48 inches.

Youth Arts Showcase 2025: Raw Authenticity

  • Optional: Include a brief artist statement about your piece and how it relates to their year’s theme.
  • Accepted file types: jpg, jpeg, png, mp4, Max. file size: 15 MB.
    Optional: Photos should be clear and high-quality and background around your work should either be blank and clean or be cropped out as to show only the artwork. Photos uploaded may be shared online.
  • If your entry is in a video format and is located on a third-party site, include a link of where this video is uploaded.
    Conditions of Entry: Eligible artists must currently reside in the Cowichan Valley Regional District and be between the ages of 13 and 21 years. Submitted works, and all the components that make up those works, must be the original work of the submitting artist(s) and not infringe on copyright laws or rights holders. The artist agrees to allow the Cowichan Valley Arts Council to display images of submitted works online and in marketing and press materials. Artists will be credited in such materials. Two-dimensional art must framed and ready for hanging with proper wiring on the back. Please email manager@cowichanvalleyartscouncil.ca for clarification.
