CVAC welcomes new managing director
Our new managing director, Susan Down, started June 22, and while the gallery is closed, she is working on strategic planning with the board and creating some new programs for the fall.
She comes to CVAC after a career in the news media and brings marketing, video production and website skills. Most recently she has handled communications for Royal Roads University and Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria. She has past experience on the CVAC board as well. Here’s her take on her new role:
I have always valued creativity in people. Expressing it is an important life skill, and because it comes in different forms beyond the obvious fine arts and performing arts genres, some people may not think of themselves as creative. Especially now, as we tackle the new world of COVID-19 and its social isolation demands, art and creativity can be a salve to soothe our souls. Whether it is participating or looking at the fabulous shows and programs at CVAC, art has an impact. I look forward to being part of the effort to continue to emphasize artistic contributions in this exceptionally creative community.
