Create a Cloth Journal

February 21, 2025 @ 10:00 am 4:00 pm

2-Day Workshop: Create a One-of-a-Kind Cloth Journal, Feb 21 & 28 , from 10 am – 4 pm.

Join us for a unique workshop where you’ll learn to craft your own personalized cloth journal. Using thread, ribbon, beads, lace, and buttons, you’ll explore the world of slow stitch stories, an artful approach to hand stitching.

During this workshop, you’ll discover Boro, the Japanese art of mending and patching, and Kantha, an ancient quilting tradition from Southeast Asia. These time-honored techniques have been passed down for centuries, transforming worn clothing and household items into layered works of art. Rooted in the necessity to repair and repurpose, these methods infuse warmth, texture, and history into every stitch.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced hand stitcher, this workshop welcomes everyone. You’ll immerse yourself in a mindful and meditative practice where creativity is encouraged, and the process is valued over the final product—embracing imperfection along the way.
