Join artist and illustrator Iris Churcher as she shares her tips on how to use simple papier-mâché to create sophisticated art pieces in two sessions, April 6 and 13 from 1 to 4 pm. In session 1, participants will start making an armature for the
desired object (Likely a bowl and/or a fish) out of cardboard, paper, wire mesh, and moulds. Everyone will receive a pot of papier-mâché pulp with which to experiment and
instructions on how to make their own. Dung the week in belween the sessions, they can finish adding pulp to their armatures and let it dry.
In session 2, the group will learn how to finishing the surfaces using paint, varnishes and foil to create a truly artistic sculpture.
Iris Churcher is a local artist and former university arts instructor who has master’s degrees in illustration and ceramics.
