On Hold, Program

Program Runs September to May yearly

Our Youth Outreach Program invests in the artists of tomorrow, encouraging students to hone their craft alongside experienced and engaged artists.

By providing mentorship and financial support for up to two years high-school aged artists, we create real world opportunities for today’s emerging talent

Who is it for? High-School students wishing to develop their visual, literary, technical or performing arts practice.

Why is it important? Mentorship connects students with like-minded artistic peers.

What will you learn? Students become more proficient in their chosen art medium, learn to give and receive feedback and broaden their exposure to the arts.

How does it work? Mentors are artisan members of the Cowichan Valley Arts Council who volunteer to teach our students.

Receive financial and mentorship support from the Cowichan Valley Arts Council for up to two years.
• monthly peer-support meetings
• professional workshops and critiques
• mentorship with professional artists
• up to 6 exhibits and performances of their creative work over 2 years

The year culminates in a student-led art show in April 2020.
