The Holding On and the Letting Go
63.5 cm x 63.5 cm
I was surprised to find out how many people love to fish. Curious about this, I asked several men and women about what draws them to this solitary pursuit, and their answers were a revelation. I found that there is tremendous peace in the moment of being and of waiting. This is also true in the worlds of painting and in the living of life itself. There is harmony in being a quiet participant in the natural world. There is power in the economy of action, and there is a perfect place of equilibrium balanced just between the holding on and the letting go. I discovered that the most significant part of fishing has nothing at all to do with the fish.
