I see every aspect of nature as mobile, and active, including the wild and woolly earth. Tranquillity has its own restlessness. As with nature, painting is an experiment with chaos, gaining order, yet keeping the random accidental liveliness. Whether flies caught in the paint or small birds which hang out with me, they all supply occasional changes to the painting. I always paint outside, in oils as well as acrylic or both. The tools I use include brushes, knives, split cedar, twigs, thumbs and fingers, cut string and metal sheets as a printing tools. I am averse to absolute control over one’s creative efforts so any gusty strong wind flying under the tarpaulin cover could create marks in one of my artworks.
