Sentinel in Venasque

I choose my subjects based on initial feelings or reaction; at times it’s the big picture, other times it’s a narrow focus on something that stirs me. I am drawn to scenes where I can imagine what might have gone before. In this case, this solitary old tree is firmly rooted in a quiet square in the village of Venasque. What stories could be told by this tree if it could speak. It has silently felt generations of children run and play, grow into adults, sometimes leave and never return, witnessed passing seasons and years. A peaceful spot to sit for a while and ponder what might have been.
