My Third Face
31 cm x 41 cm x 10 cm
“The Japanese say you have three faces. The first face, you show to the world. The second face, you show to your close friends and your family. The third face, you never show anyone. It is the truest reflection of who you are.”
This piece came from a careful reflection of who I am deep within. A part of me cries inside because of the loss of my physical abilities due to chronic pain but the fascinator on the other side shows the joy I find in creating and the joy I find in having fun. My sons would say the flowers in my hair represent my wilder days, but they also represent the joy I get from the beauty of nature. My earrings reflect the importance of my faith and my craft. Most importantly the necklace shows the birthstones of myself and my husband, our two boys, their beautiful wives, and their children. The brightest joys of my life.
