Ocean, Me and I. 150”/58”/40”, Unframed, Mixed Media $2,200
The island is breezing like a magic dame in her blanket of water and we must preserve our oceans. I was inspired to use recycled goods in this sculpture – a message of hope as we rise through our mistakes.
My papier mâché puppet came alive, and I responded with energetic dots, stripes and dangling tendrils. The two-dimensional head is theatrical and whimsical – it is the selfie, it is you, me, the islands, the ocean in play.
May the expressive liveliness of my sculpture be more than just a response to big questions, may it open a dialogue for social change.
