This ‘Festiva Maxima’ is one of 8 varieties of peonies I planted in my garden. The warm heady aroma of peonies takes me straight back to the prairie farm I grew up on.
Normally I am loosely realistic in style; I enjoyed greater detail in this piece, perhaps trying to quench a desire to control something in a world that presently feels out of control. I used multiple layers of acrylic paint and glaze to create a blended effect.
