Fine Arts Show 2025: Call to Artists

February 15 – April 30

The 55th Cowichan Valley Fine Art Show is the largest open, non-juried,  art show on the Island and features work by emerging and renowned artists including painting and sculpture, jewelry design, furniture, photography and more.

Key Dates to Remember:

  • Show Dates: May 5 – 30, 2025
  • Registration Open: February 28 – April 21
  • Registration Deadline: April 21 or until capacity is reached (first come first serve) – we will waitlist artists after capacity is reached.
  • Art Drop-off: Thursday May 1 – 10 am – 3 pm
  • Art Pick Up: May 31 – 12 pm – 3:30 pm
  • Opening Event: Wednesday May 7th – 7 pm – $15 tickets
  • Art-Tea Party: Saturday May 10th – 1 – 3 pm

Important Details & Restrictions for artists:

Limit one art entry per artist. Entry is $35 CAD. Must be a CVAC member to submit.

Two-Dimensional Work: Must include a wired backing and be ready to hang. View hanging requirements here.

Artwork Photo Deadline is Monday April 21, 2025
The Cowichan Valley Fine Arts show is available online and we require your photo to do so. If you didn’t include a photo with your registration, send a photo, by email, by Monday April 21, 2025.
Be sure to put “FAS Photo 2025” in the subject line.

Maximum Dimensions
Width: 48” or 1.2 metres, including frame, full width of triptychs, diptychs etc.
Height: 60” or 1.5 metres
Area: 2,880 square inches or 18,581 square centimetres
Sculptures & 3D: Tall items that sit on the floor, maximum floor space of 30” X 30” and must stand securely. We have a variety of plinth sizes – if your sculpture has a footprint of more than 18”X18”, or if you have any questions at all, please call 250.746.1633

If you don’t have all the details for your artwork yet, please enter TBA in the box. This lets us know you’ll send the missing information later. All missing details must be emailed to creative@cowichanvalleyartscouncil.ca by April 21st.
For consistency in our labels, please use upper and lower case (don’t use all caps)
Metric Width / Height (and Depth for 3D).

If your artwork is not available at this time, please provide an in-progress photo and send final photo to creative@cowichanvalleyartscouncil.ca by April 21

Conditions of Entry

I agree:

  • I am 18 years of age or older & a CVAC member in good standing. (Need to become a member? Click Here.)
  • My art work will be for sale at the Cowichan Valley Fine Art Show 2025.
  • To pay the Cowichan Valley Arts Council 20% commission on the sale of my work.
  • The work has not been exhibited at CVAC before, nor has it won a prize at any shows on BC’s Coastal Islands.
  • That the piece I submitted is my original work, that is my idea, composition and image. It does not infringe on any copyright. The work is culturally appropriate with images that I am authorized to use.
  • CVAC reserves the right to disallow entries that are deemed offensive, violate copyright or promote hate. Eligibility of any artwork is up to the discretion of CVAC.
  • With some exceptions, all works must be original. Only the following reproductions or prints are allowed: Photographs, Artist hand-pulled prints & Original works that are created digitally.
  • Giclée prints are not allowed. AI generated works are not allowed.
  • CVAC has the right to display my work online and in other marketing materials.
  • My submission is suitably prepared for hanging and display per the CVAC requirements available Online Here.
  • CVAC will adjust any submission, without harm to the work or its framing or stand, if it doesn’t meet the CVAC hanging requirements found Online Here.
