July 4 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
and July 8, 15, and 22 from 10 am- 1 pm
Workshop for all levels, ages 14+, in two to four sessions . Choose your dates for outdoor components.

All participants meet for the Introduction session at the CVAC Gallery studio July 4th, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The following 3 sessions happen on location July 8, July 15, and July 22, 10 am-1 pm
Day 1: Learn how light affects seeing, how to use perspective and colour and get ready for the outdoor sessions. Get details about the outdoor sessions and what to bring, directions and possible car-sharing.
Day 2-4: meet on locations to gain practical experience ‘en plein air’ . Students will learn how to play with the ever changing conditions.
For July 8 we are setting up in a Cowichan Bay location. Boats, Docks and Float-houses and vistas of Mount Tzouhalem are there to be explored on your canvas.
On July 15 Bright Angel Park is our location. The Koksilah River, pedestrian suspension bridge and the beauty of the old forest call the artist into a new sense of place.
Our third location, July 22, is a Duncan location. Here we find a blend of buildings and nature, perhaps people in action. Exact location will be discussed and chosen on our intro evening .
Plein air artists challenge themselves to complete a painting in each sitting. You may find that painting in nature initiates a deeper awareness of place, where the process becomes more important than the outcome. Materials list will be sent upon registration
