Bursary: Cowichan Art Program for Seniors
Overview and Eligibility
This bursary is made possible by a New Horizons for Seniors grant. To be eligible, you must be 55 years or older and demonstrate financial need. Bursaries are a credit applicable to Cowichan Valley Arts Council programming, activities and registration fees. Bursaries are available until March 31, 2026.
We must receive your application at least 10 days before the date or registration deadline of the activity you’ll be using the bursary for.
We require your Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment (Line 150) to confirm financial need as determined by Statistics Canada Low Income Cut-offs (see table below).
All information provided in the application is solely for evaluating your application and remains confidential unless CVAC is required by law to disclose it. Personal financial information collected for your application will be destroyed or deleted by March 31, 2027.
How it Works
The Bursary comes in a the form of a credit that is applicable to Cowichan Valley Arts Council (CVAC) programs such as: workshops, presentations, exhibition registration fees or rental fees. You’ll find all our activities listed on our website: cowichanvalleyartscouncil.ca. To register with a bursary credit, you must sign up in person or by email after your bursary has been approved.
You may apply for up to 3 separate activities. However, first-time applicants receive priority over those who have already received a bursary.
Our goal is to make the bursaries widely available and we will provide funding as follows:
Workshop & Classes | Art Exhibition Registration | Gallery Rental |
75% of fee to a maximum of $100 | Full fee to a maximum $35 | Maximum of $100 |
A representative from the Cowichan Valley Arts Council will contact you with a decision within 2 business days of submission. The bursary amount is applied as a credit toward CVAC fees described above.
The bursary program comes to a close on March 31, 2026 – as per funding conditions.
Please don’t hesitate to contact the Cowichan Valley Arts Council for any questions, clarification or follow up regarding the Bursary Program.
